Photoshop Tip: Easily Select object pixels on a layer

As you know, tips are very easy, to the point, get on with life, no bushes to beat time savers. Even the professionals stumble every once in a while on a startling, eye widening trick. Try this if you haven’t yet. When trying to select an object (any non transparent pixels) on a transparent layer just hold the Control key (PC) or the Command key (Mac) while you single click on the layer thumbnail like in the picture above. You will notice it (Photoshop) will then automagically select any of the pixels on the transparent layer.. did I just say that?. Just give it...

Killer Site#6: Rubens LP – Illustrator

Some more beautiful pixels at Rubens LP. There are some very interesting line drawings at his site. On the higher side of unique. His images seem to lack a traditional “completeness”, but in the way he illustrates with his line art it seems to create even more than the complete image would show if it were in it’s entirety. I don’t know if I am saying that correctly… To find out just what I am talking about, drop on by Rubens LP. Visit his site more of his work can also be found at his deviantART...

Canon EOS 5D Mark II: HD Video and 21MP

I was just notified by a friend about the release of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. This is pretty fresh meat. He said he found out within 10 minutes of the release. He has been waiting with baited breath. Well, what are we looking at? 21 MP, Full HD Video for about 30 minutes at 1080P.. yes “P” (that means Progressive to all you technophobes).   Included of course is a 3″ LCD with Live View while taking stills, OR VIDEO. The 3.9 FPS continuous shooting is a little disappointing but it can at maximum take up to 310 Large JPG images in a single burst with a UDMA card. The ISO 100-6400 (expansion from 50 up to 25,600) noise killing capabilities are pretty astounding. The one thing that really stands out to me and makes this camera a purchase that I would have a hard time not making is the fact that the DOF Video capabilities of this camera will be great… Just think, use a full frame DSLR lens to shoot video. I can’t wait to see the sample footage (update – found some sample footage, if you are inclined you can download some actual footage – 276 MB here). No need for expensive DOF adapters which are needed for normal HD Video cams. This camera looks like a ton of fun. I could go on and on, but it would be...

Killer Site #5: Artist TSANG Kin-Wah

TSANG Kin-Wah creates some really interesting work. Born in Guangdong, China he then moved to Hong Kong about 6 years later. He has also had many successful exhibitions. His work is unique and seems to strive to show the “truth” behind things. More than what is just perceived. His goal seems to get the viewer to re-think things. I will let his art speak for itself. In this case, his site is considered a “Killer Website” because he is a killer artist (must I always explain? LOL). A wonderful talent with motive. TSANG...
