For the love of carbon fiber and the awesome look associated with it. I like taking pieces of carbon fiber images and using them in my designs… not just the basic flat look, but using graphical sections of shaped carbon pieces with different textures and shines.

Del.icio.us Bookmarklet Tag for Google Chrome

As designer’s and web heads, I know we are always bookmarking those awesome websites we find with great tools, fonts, ideas, images, etc… (At least I am)… Many of you may use del.icio.us to tag these pages, if not.. try it .. you will LOVE it… The thing is, I had a little problem that I needed to fix to use Delicious Tagging…

Ever since Google released their Chrome Browser I have been wanting to use it but was never happy because I could not use the Del.icio.us Tag add-on for Internet Explorer in the Chrome browser. I do a ton of tagging, so using Chrome was just not possible. There is a fix! I am so happy because I really like the speed and simplicity of the Chrome browser.

Here goes.

All you have to do is drag this link –> Delicious Tag to your Bookmarks Bar in the Chrome Browser. This uses Javascript to get the magic done. Make sure your Bookmarks bar is showing first of course. Now all you have to do to tag that awesome web page that you found is to click on that new Delicious Tag Bookmark and it will pop up a new window just like it did before in Internet Explorer! And from there you can also choose to view your bookmarks. So sweet and simple. So.. load up The Chrome browser and give it a whirl!

Free Vector Files: Japanese Crests – Kamon – Motifs

Yes some more free stuff! Feast your eyes on this collection of Japanese Crests. Some call them Motifs and they are also commonly called Kamon. Each Japanese family name has their own design. The files I am redistributing are just some of the many different beautiful designs that have stood the test of time through years of Japanese bloodline. Over at http://eps.crest-japan.net/index_en.php is where I found these files. They are .eps vector files that need to be opened in Illustrator if you want to edit them. The site offers them as separate downloads, but I have collected them all (it took forever) and have them zipped up as one 50 MB zip file! You can go ahead and open them in Photoshop, but they will have to be rasterized which will remove the editable vector data. It’s up to you how you use these wonderful designs. The site is mostly in Japanese, but there are some English sections. If you know Japanese (or can translate) you can dig deeper into their crest’s database and learn more about each design itself. Pretty cool stuff. The crest categories provided are: Animal, Flower, Furnishing, Martialism, Natural, Pattern, Plants, and even some original designs. The creator of these files has removed all copyrights… You can do what you want with the designs. After you download the files, be sure to visit the creators website. There is also a cool Flash animation relating to Japanese crests.

Skateboard Graphics: template and more

Well now, hang in there guys and girls… I seem to be on some kind of a kick regarding graphics for snowboards and such… This time it has to do with skateboards. The thing is, I was downtown in Boulder, CO this last Saturday. I did a little bit of bar hopping and then found myself in a surf shop. There they were, all hanging there in front of me. Skateboards – with some killer graphics of course. I could not resist and found my self talking to the salesman and then proceeded to bring one of the skateboards to the register. Next thing I knew I was riding it up and down the Pearl Street mall in Boulder. To make a long story short. I bought the board and love it (although I think I like the art on the bottom of it more than the board itself). Just now, after admiring my board, I decided to look for a skateboard template. I found a neat site called BoardPerso.com that lets you design your own board, then they print the board for you and ship it off. Cool thing is… They have templates! I am going to redistribute them here at PaperFlame at the bottom of this post.
